DescriptionIn the foreground is a photograph of an Apsáalooke woman and child on a black horse appear in front of a pink and blue beaded hide bag. A similarly decorated white bag with blue, green and pink embellishments hangs from the back of the horse, along with geometrically patterned woven blankets, fringed leather, animal skins and a circular shield with a buffalo head painted on it. The woman and child wear white shirts with long fringe and hold feathered fans. Photograph taken during the Crow Nation’s Annual Crow Fair in Montana. The photograph is layered on top of a watercolor illustration from the Denver Art Museum’s card catalogue of Native objects.
