DescriptionIn the foreground is a photograph of a smiling Apsáalooke woman on a white horse appears in front of a blue elk tooth dress. She wears a similar dress with elk teeth and fringe embellishing the red cloth. She carries a feathered fan and wears a blue beaded bag and belt. Bright red and blue textiles, embroidered and beaded bags and blankets, bells and an animal skin hang across the horse’s back. Photograph taken during the Crow Nation’s Annual Crow Fair in Montana. The photograph is layered on top of a watercolor illustration from the Denver Art Museum’s card catalogue of Native objects.
