DescriptionIn the foreground is a photograph of an Apsáalooke boy on a brown horse appears in front of a blue and red pant leg. He wears a similar garment embellished with yellow strips of fabric and decorative medallions. The boy also wears flowered cuffs and a wide-brimmed hat wrapped in a pink cloth and carries a feathered fan. The horse is draped with woven blankets, an animal skin and a striking orange fur blanket. Photograph taken during the Crow Nation’s Annual Crow Fair in Montana. The photograph is layered on top of a watercolor illustration from the Denver Art Museum’s card catalogue of Native objects.
