A similar blue strap with flowers and leaves hangs around the horse’s neck. The color and flowers are echoed in the teardrop shaped textile covering the boy’s foot. He wears matching blue flowered cuffs and belt, a white vest and pants with fringe and embroidery and a feathered headdress. Photograph taken during the Crow Nation’s Annual Crow Fair in Montana. The photograph is layered on top of a watercolor illustration from the Denver Art Museum’s card catalogue of Native objects.
