DescriptionIn the foreground is a photograph of an Apsáalooke woman on a tan and black horse appears in front of a beaded blue, red, yellow and green cradleboard. A similar cradleboard with geometric patterning hangs from the front of the horse’s saddle. The horse is draped with blankets over its back and a green elk-tooth dress across its rear. The woman wears a pink elk-tooth dress, a flowered scarf over her hair and a fringed red blanket and carries a small, feathered fan. Photograph taken during the Crow Nation’s Annual Crow Fair in Montana. The photograph is layered on top of a watercolor illustration from the Denver Art Museum’s card catalogue of Native objects.
