DescriptionIn the foreground is a photograph of an Apsáalooke boy on a black horse appears in front of a beaded textile. The words “1 section of design pattern” on the left indicate that the colorful illustration is only part of a larger piece. A similar piece with bright colors and geometric patterning hangs down across the horse’s shoulders. The horse is also draped with pastel blankets, white fur and a blue teardrop-shaped decoration. Photograph taken during the Crow Nation’s Annual Crow Fair in Montana. The photograph is layered on top of a watercolor illustration from the Denver Art Museum’s card catalogue of Native objects.
