DescriptionA silver spoon, highlighted with a lighter gray and traced with black lines, stretches diagonally across a swath of blue and green. While close inspection suggests nothing out of the ordinary with this spoon, viewers taking in the whole scene realize that this is not simply a study of a spoon on abstract color, but that this spoon is monumental. Bridging the gap from a green jut of land out to a pier in a large body of teal water, this enormous spoon dwarfs the tiny white sail boats that drift around it. The high horizon line at along the top of the work indicates in sketchy line rolling hills, while an uninked sliver of a cloud in the light blue sky gives a hint to a lovely summer day.
