DescriptionHorizontal rectangular image, showing two Native Americans on horseback, crossing frozen river during winter; frozen river reflects blue sky; first horse completely stepped onto ice and two front legs stretched out rigid as if sliding or losing balance; second horse still on snow bank, walks proud and sure with head held high, not realizing it would soon lose its sure footedness; both Native Americans carry lances and lean forward from cold winter wind, which blowing small tree in foreground; patches of snow across ice.
