The artist visualizes the ways in which society has stripped black people of their identity, making them invisible and mute. The phrase “MY FEAR IS YOUR FEAR” is repeated across the sheet. The text on the first line is complete and legible. Then in each subsequent iteration, the phrase and the words themselves break apart in different sections and continue to run across multiple lines. The words begin to blend together, underscoring the connection between “MY FEAR” and “YOUR FEAR”. At the bottom, the sixth repetition of the phrase is incomplete, leading the viewer to question, “MY FEAR IS YOUR” what?
